  • Booking a vehicle

    1: Do we need to pay a deposit when making a reservation?
  • We require a NZD$300 deposit (plus $7.50 credit card fee) to confirm a booking. The balance is payable when picking up the vehicle.
  • 2: Is my deposit refundable if I cancel the booking?
  • 1.Changes to the Booking
    Any changes to the booking are subject to availability, and must be made 7 days or more before the start of the hire. If the booking is cancelled, the deposit is non-refundable.
    2. No Shows and Late Cancellations:
    The deposit of $300 is non-refundable; however we will not charge any additional money.
  • One way hire

    1: Do you provide one way rentals?
  • Yes, you can hire one way. Auckland to Christchurch (one way fee may apply). Christchurch to Auckland (no one way fee applies).
  • Can I take the vehicle on the Cook Strait Ferry?

  • Yes, you can take all our vehicles on the ferry. We recommend you book direct with either Bluebridge Ferries or Interislander Ferries.
  • Age Restrictions and Additional Drivers

    1: How old do you have to be to rent a car?
  • Economy Campervan - 21 years or older. Micro Campervan - 18 years or older. All drivers must have a full license.
  • 2: Is there an additional charge for more than one driver?
  • Yes, It cost $30 per hire for each additional driver.
  • Rental Rates

    1: What is included in the rates on your website?
  • Our rates include gst (sales tax), insurance, unlimited km and roadside assistance. There are no hidden costs.
  • 2:What is GST?
  • GST stands for Goods and Services Tax, which is 15%. This tax is included in all of our rental rates, therefore you do not need to add this to the prices you see listed on our website. We have no hidden or additional costs.
  • 3:What is the insurance excess?
  • Comprehensive insurance is included in all our prices. If you have an accident, the most you have to pay is $3,000. This is called the insurance excess.
  • 4: Can I reduce the insurance excess?
  • Yes, you can purchase the Zero Excess which cost $22 per day or maximum $590 per hire. If you have an accident, you do not have to pay anything. This also covers multiple tyre punctures and one windscreen. No bond is required, and you can drive on both sealed and unsealed roads.

    1: Are your vehicles non-smoking?
  • Yes, All our vehicles are non-smoking.
  • 2:Are your vehicles all petrol?
  • Yes, all our vehicles are petrol.
  • 3:Can I choose manual or automatic transmission?
  • Micro Campervans are automatic. Economy Campervans are mostly automatic transmission. You can make a request for specific transmission type.
  • 4: What items come with the campervans?
  • Each campervan has a 240 volt power cable, hanging light, water container, mosquito net, awning and kitchen set.
  • 5:What items are included in the kitchen set?
  • Wash basin, 1 x saucepan, fry pan, sharp knife, fish slice, can opener and two each of the following: dinner plate, bowel, cup, knife, fork, spoon, tea spoon. Additional items for more persons are available on request at no additional charge.
  • Picking up the Vehicle

    1: Do I require an international licence?
  • You can use your current driver’s licence from your own country, or an International Driver’s Licence. If your licence is not in English, you should bring an English translation or obtain an International Driving Licence.
  • 2:What do I need to bring with me to hire a car?
  • You must bring your drivers licence and a credit card in your name.
  • 3:Can I pay for my hire by credit card?
  • Yes, we accept all major credit cards. When picking up the vehicle and paying the balance, a surcharge may apply as follows:
    Master Card and Visa Card (debit or credit card):2.5 % surcharge
    American Expressm, Diners or JCB Card:4.5 % surcharge
    Cash or Eftpos:No additional fee
  • 4: Do you offer free maps with the vehicle?
  • Yes - we provide free road maps, guides and directories for Holiday Parks throughout New Zealand.
  • During the Hire

    1: What if my vehicle breaks down?
  • We provide 24 hour roadside assistance via the AA (Automoblie Association). Simply call their free phone number.
  • 2:Are there any roads I cannot drive on?
  • 1.Ninety Mile Beach – This is located at the Northern most point of New Zealand. The beach is a registered road as the tour buses drive along it. You can still travel by road to Cape Reinga.

    2. Skippers Canyon – This is the location of the Pipeline Bungy Jump and you can take a tour bus to access it.
  • Returning the vehicle

    1: What if I return the vehicle early?
  • Yes, we have a 24 hour drop off area in Auckland and Christchurch. Shuttle buses to the airport can be pre-booked for early morning flights, which is a very popular option in Christchurch. In Auckland, we recommend a local taxi company or Uber.
  • 2:Can I extend the rental while on hire?
  • Yes, we are always happy for you to extend the hire, subject to the vehicle being available. Please phone us for the price.
  • 3:What is the re-fueling policy?
  • We check the amount of petrol when you leave. You are required to return the car with the same amount of fuel. If the vehicle has less fuel, we charge for the difference.
  • 4:Do I need to clean the vehicle?
  • You need to take the vehicle through a car wash before returning the vehicle; however you do not need to clean inside the vehicle. Car washes at petrol stations recycle the water which protects the environment. We do not wash any vehicles at our premises. If the vehicle is returned unclean on the outside, we have a $35 car wash fee.
