Insurance: The standard insurance excess is $1,000, this is the most you would have to pay in the event of an accident. You can pay an extra $15 per day or $280 per hire to reduce the excess to zero, which means if you have an accident, you will not have to pay anything.

One way hire: Travel one way between Auckland and Christchurch or Christchurch to Auckland. One way rentals attract a relocation fee of up to $400.

Special Option - Split Hire
Travel the North Island (Auckland to Auckland), next make your own way to Christchurch by train or plane and pickup a second campervan.
